Welcome! My name is Katie Dunne, and I am the executive director of Secure Illinois Retirements. I am thrilled to announce the launch of our nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring our public pension system becomes fully funded for the public sector workers across Illinois, both current and retired. 

Secure Illinois Retirements aims to make an impact on the most critical fiscal challenge in Illinois: the future of our public pension system. We see pensions as a vital lifeline for so many essential workers across our state, and we want to do our part to ensure the promise of a pension is honored.

As a former public worker who spent more than 16 years in government, I care deeply about this issue and I am grateful for this opportunity. I come from a proud union family of teachers, firefighters, law enforcement, and laborers, and I know firsthand the sacrifices made on a daily basis by my family, friends, and former colleagues.  They deserve a secure retirement. 

A fully funded pension system also provides incentives for recruiting and retaining talented workers, which benefits all residents in Illinois.  We need to work together to find long-term sustainable solutions, without cutting benefits for workers who have earned their pensions through a lifetime of service.
